Donating Property

Gifts of Tangible Personal Property include any item with a determinable value - art work, patents, copyrights, antiques, stamp or coin collections, jewelry, furniture, rare books, manuscripts, electronic equipment, musical instruments and much more. The North Woodward Community Foundation reviews and approves property donations on a case by case basis. The donor may deduct the fair-market value of the property as a charitable contribution. If the North Woodward Community Foundation uses your gift in a manner unrelated to its mission, the tax deduction is limited to the cost basis of the property. The IRS has established appraisal rules for such gifts. A tax receipt will be issued. These sorts of gifts often provide donors with immediate estate planning and tax benefits. Please call if you have any questions about your items.
